This is just a mini-update as there has been so much going on. We want to bring all our hostages home as quickly as possible and all together. I am sure you have been following the news.
I want to share the good news that my beloved The Jihadi Dictionary: The Essential Intel Tool for Military, Law Enforcement, Government and the Concerned Public which only took me eight years to create, the hard part was figuring out the format -- is now scheduled to be published this September 2025 in French! It has taken a group effort so a shout out to Prof. Emer. Leslie Shaw, David Reinharc, the publisher, and my translator Joëlle Perelberg-Houriez. Many thanks. The link to pre-purchase the book is not up yet nor is it for Arshad Mahmood's book. I will send them on when they are posted.
Now I turn to the story of Arshad Mahmood's forthcoming English translation by my good friend and colleague Jamshed Iqbal. This book is a gem. Arshad wrote and published the book before 9/11 in Urdu entitled Saqafti Ghutan which means Cultural Suffocation!!
First who is Arshad Mahmood? Perhaps his name is less known until now within the global Jewish community. He is a profound scholar and a cultural icon in Pakistan. Here is a link to a list of books by Arshad (His name can be transcribed differently):
How did I come to be invited by Arshad to write an introduction to his book? It's a terrific story in how the internet facilitates friendships that might never have come about. Also I am deeply honored.
In 2016 Jamshed contacted me by email and asked to read my first book The Banality of Suicide Terrorism. I send him a pdf. He and Arshad read the book and they agreed with me that the elephant in the room is the devalued female and political violence. I gave Jamshed translation rights to the book for Urdu.
From this fledgling relationship a special collegial connection began and as you might say the rest is history. Here is the cover of Arshad's book in English in which is cited part of my mini-introduction.

Soon I hope to meet Jamshed in person and one day inshaAllahI will meet the brave and fearless Arshad . Another story to be continued. Meanwhile check the cover out and buy Arshad Mahmood's Why Muslims are Misfit in the Modern World. I hear it is selling like hot cakes. I also love the cover. So clever and so true. The world needs to listen.
Bring them home now!
